Its construction was started in 1881 by the order of the heirson of the duke S.M. Voronzov, but a year later the duke died and the palace remained uncompleted. In 1889 Voronzov`s Massandra estate with an uncompleted palace was bought by the Emperor Alexander III. And at last after three years the construction was completed. However, Alexander III had no opportunity to enjoy the beauty and comfort of the new dwelling. He died in Small Livadia Palace in 1894. During the years of the Soviet system Massandra Palace was transformed into a place of resort for leaders of the party and government. The Palace attracts attention not only by the amazing architecture, successfully built-in in the environment, but also it is famous by its unique originality of its interior.
