The stone fort’s constructing, located at the Atlantic coast of France in the Pertuis d’Antioche Strait, was started in 1801 on the already existed strait’s sand bank, from which the name of the fort was taken itself. The constructing happened to be a “delayed construction” – the fort was finished only by 1857. The fort had the length of 68 m, the width of 31 m, and the height of the walls reached to 20 m. The military post of Boyard consisted of 250 men. However, by the moment of constructing’s finishing, the fortress appeared to be unnecessary. For more than 50 years since the starting constructing point the range of the guns increased dramatically, and by that moment the coastal batteries easily covered the strait. The necessity of the newly-constructed fort disappeared, but it was left on the balance of the Military Department of France and further it was used as a prison.

The model-assembling in its volume can be compared with a rather big ship (only the framework takes 10 sheets of А4). There are a lot of small and big details. The laser-cutting to this model will greatly simplify its assembling.
