The Post steamer Feldmarschall was launched February 21st, 1903 at Reiherstieg shipyard in Hamburg and was commissioned on June 24th. She serviced the route from Hamburg to Africa until 1914. After the seizure of Daressalam Feldmarschall was repaired by the British in October 1916 and renamed the Field Marshall and then used as a troop ship. In February 1919 Field Marshall brought the last Germans from the former German colony East Africa back to Hamburg.
