In October 1928 it was decided to reconstruct the tsar’s former yacht “Standart” first into a base for submarines, then into a carrier of the torpedo boats and at the end - into a minelayer. It was decided to perform the reconstruction at the Kronstadt Marine Plant; after that the project 200 was given to the Leningrad Plant named after Marti. According to the project the ship was able to carry 545 mines, had four guns of 130 mm and could move at speed of 18 knots. On 25 December 1936 the ship was officially included into the Baltic Fleet of Red Banner. The ship became one of the first guard ships, the “Marti” played a significant part in the operations at the Baltic in the initial period of the Great Patriotic War. Under the constant massed air raids, the minelayer carried out the mine laying in the Gulf of Finland until the winter of 1941. It took part in the evacuation of the defenders of the Hanko Peninsula, where it was damaged by the explosion of the mine near it. In the blockade Leningrad the ship was repaired while the most part of the crew went as a part of the marines to protect the approaches to the city. When the repairs were finished, in August 1943 the ship participated in the artillery counteraction against the German batteries. Then, on performing a few training marches, it was put under repair again. After the war “Marti” was afloat a few years more. In 1948 it was renamed into the minelayer “Oka”. In the end of the 50-ies the “Oka” was excluded from the fleet and reconstructed into an accommodation hulk, its guard flag and one of the guns were given to the museum. Then the command of the navy, having used the ship for some time as a target for a new rocket weapon, gave it then for scrap.
