The future transport "Kamchatka" appeared as a consequence of solving the problem of supplying ships with coal at sea. However, the Russian-Japanese War influenced the intended porpoise of "Kamchatka" – the coal transport was rebuilt in a "squadron workshop". During the campaign of the Russian squadron to the Far East "Kamchatka" provided technical support to ships. During the Battle of Tsushima the transport workshop "Kamchatka”, which had been considerably damaged by the enemy’s fire by 4 p.m., sank at 7.30 p.m. in May 14, 1905. In September 2, same year "Kamchatka" was expelled from the Navy lists according to the order №176 of the Maritime Administration.
